Day Six, Three Rivers - Gateway to Sequoia and Kings Canyon

After a day of being efficient - car washed, oil changed, tires rotated - and another revisiting Lemoore (both NAS and the town) - and having lunch with Bill and Dottie Day, we headed for the hills on Day Six, exploring Exeter and its trove of murals touting the history of the place on the way to Three Rivers. I was confused at first, since the only river I had reference to was the Kaweah. As it turned out, the Three Rivers referred to the North, Middle, and South Forks of - you guessed it - the Kaweah River.

With that conundrum solved, we checked the water level of Lake Kaweah and declared it full, and agreeing with Wikipedia that the surface elevation looked to be very close to 535 ft.

Moving on into Three Rivers, we paused for ice cream cones at Reimer's Candies & Gifts and enjoyed them on the shady deck overlooking either one of the forks or the whole the Kaweah River.

Onward, ever upward, into the Sequoia National Park where we found road maintenance beyond Hospital Rock, so we used good sense and went that far and no farther. But we also found, to my surprise, Agave in bloom - all over the mountainsides. Now, I can't say the Agave is a recent addition to the area's charms, but none of the three of us remembered it from our previous excursions.

This short stretch of Park road had any number of impressive vistas. I, for one, thought the Agave a marvelous choice to accent this landscape. That said, I'll leave it at that.
